I went to sleep and woke up between layers of ocean and sand and light. We had no need to peel them off because they held us with their gentle arms whispering truths that we had lost before we even had them. We watched each other without seeing each other and I knew there isn't a safe road to white shores and into the night anymore.
We lost something when we departed the last time.
